Woodworking was always my passion. Working with the wood, do it yourself project give me a lot of enjoyment from just creating something. During my short ‘career’ in it I discovered the importance of planning and organizing.

Some time ago I started to be more interested in wooden toys and how to do them. One of my ideas was to design a wooden rocking horse for my grandchildren. I knew they will love it. I began with finding some free plan online and started to proceed.

When I was finishing the main part of the toy, some measurements didn’t match up. I got a bit confused and rechecked it again. It was quite frustrating when I discovered that I had to design this part again! It costed my a lot of headaches and I don’t wish it to anyone…

I wanted this toy to be firm and well-made, not broken after few months. One of my friends recommended me 1 resource online that ’supposedly’ had over 10,000 woodworking projects with plans, blueprints, drawings, instructions and everything. I had to check it out.

The website was called Woodworking4Home and claimed to provide over 14,000 woodworking projects suitable to any skill with instant access. The offer was absolutely outstanding.

I bought this resource right away. Here is my verdict. Absolutely money well spent! The amount of plans here is head spinning, all nicely categorized. Each plan has really big and clear drawings with step by step instructions, that helps a lot. The drawback is that some plans were lacking some important information like materials, tools, but it was an exception.

I finished my rocking horse in a matter of weeks and my grandchildren have so much fun with it! If you are looking for top quality plan for this toy you need to check out this site.

Wood Motorcycle Rocking Horse Plans

Motorcycle Rocking Horse Building Plans

Motorcycle Rocking Horse Building Plans

There are many alternatives for rocking horse like motorcycle or carousel ones. I personally like the motorcycle a lot as a lot of kids love them. The design requires a lot of work, there are a lot of details you have to take to consider.

I did a motorcycle rocking few years ago for my young grandson and he was amazed. Although I was a beginner in making such projects, I pulled it off.

During this process I learned a lot of lessons I would like to share with you here. The most important thing to do more advanced projects like this one is to find a quality, correct plan. The plan should have nice, big drawings, step by step instructions and exact tools you need to start. Without a blueprint you won’t do anything.

That’s why I strongly advice you to not try to ’save’ on the toy and get some free plans. I got some of them from the internet and after I started the work, I discovered some critical errors they had. It costed me a lot of headache and frustration, I needed to figure it by own, what tools do I need, materials, what type of wood, patterns, everything… It was just not a good plan.

Especially if you are a beginner in woodworking, you should look for some more detailed plans that will teach you step by step what to do. There are many of them but the good ones are not free.

When I bought the access to the resource that gave me thousands of plans with motorcycle rocking horse plans, I knew what to do right away. The plans were clear and all measures were correct. The next thing is that with a better blueprint the toy will thrive for many more years and it won’t be broken that easily. It’s because people who wrote such plans were more experienced and chose the right material to make a more sustainable design.

Rocking Horse Plans – Where To Start

March 3rd, 2010

It’s an amazing feeling to give a brand new, made by yourself rocking horse to your kids. They have so much fun with it. It reminds me when I was a child, although it was a long time ago.

Before you will start anything, you need to prepare yourself for this project. What you should know is what type of wood are you going to use, what tools you will need, where to get the blueprints, plans?

The basic tools you will absolutely need are nail gun, hammer, sander, saw and sandpaper. Invest in some better saw, not handsaw, as it will save you a lot of time an energy in the long run. Some types of saws you can try are jigsaw, table saw or miter saw.

Another thing is that you should find a place where you are going to build your rocking horse. The best place would be a garage, workshop. If you don’t have it, you can try outdoors or in your house. Just make sure to prepare the space before starting. Plan ahead of the time will make the work much more enjoyable and smooth.
